With the SCIMITARA , you SCIMITARA with an extraordinary innovation from Solingen. Inspired by the elegant curve of oriental blades, it masterfully combines form and function. The extremely curved edge creates a unique cutting dynamic: when closing, the cutting edges remain at the same angle to each other throughout – the hair is gently drawn in for a smooth, pulling cut. The result: razor-sharp blunt cuts without any feed – clean and straight.

The SCIMITARA shows SCIMITARA particular strengths when it comes to demanding precision work: with a blade that is approx. 20% narrower, the scissors feel as light as a feather in the hand and are ideal for precision cuts that require maximum control. Normally, such a slim blade would not be able to withstand the hair – but the patented Niolox steel with its exceptional hardness of HRC 60-62 and high toughness of 50-60 J/cm² makes this possible.

Its extreme slimness makes the SCIMITARA for delicate work that would be difficult or impossible with wider scissors: precise contours around the face, exact lines in the neck area, and perfect cut lines for bob styles. The curved shape allows a clear line of sight to the hair being cut while providing exceptional stability—the blades do not tilt into each other, even with thicker strands of hair.

The well-designed grip area was specially developed for precision work: the thumb spur provides additional control, while the "funnel grip" for the thumb allows for high mobility from the drag to the point position. The integrated, strongly upward-curved finger hook with the curvature of a finger eye is particularly innovative: it allows for a balanced resting position without counterpressure and ensures secure guidance without slipping – even during the most demanding precision cuts. The distinctive offset shape with a 0.6 cm angled thumb eye and the particularly fine, very sharp tip guarantee precise cuts right to the tip. With a closing force of only Ø 25g, it offers optimal control and precision.

Developed and manufactured in Germany, Niolox steel with its special alloying elements niobium, vanadium, and molybdenum gives the slim design the strength it needs for professional, continuous use. What does the BESS scale value mean?

The BESS value(Brubaker Edge Sharpness Scale) is a standardized measurement for quantitatively determining cutting edge sharpness. The measurement is based on the principle of cutting tests under defined loads: a calibrated test medium is exposed to the cutting edge while the force required in grams (g) to completely cut through the test material is measured. The scale is inversely proportional to sharpness: a lower BESS value indicates greater cutting edge sharpness, as less force is required for the cutting process. By using a standardized, certified test medium under controlled conditions, the BESS method ensures reproducible and comparable measurement results across different blades and manufacturers. For comparison: an ultra-sharp razor blade has a BESS value of approx. 50, while high-quality cutlery has a value of around 300.
