Custom-made Hairdressing scissors a master hairdresser
A moment of inattention and it's already happened: an accident that leads to incapacity for work and thus throws your life plans into disarray. This is what happened to a master hairdresser who lost the ring finger of her right hand. Although surgery allowed the little finger to be moved to the place of the ring finger, it was not enough to cut hair.
The result: Ms. W. was threatened with lifelong incapacity to work.
initial situation
The employers' liability insurance association searched worldwide for a manufacturer to produce a small number of custom scissors. Mass producers had to decline. TONDEO able to take on the project thanks to its in-house design and CNC manufacturing capabilities.
conceptualization
The ergonomic requirements and feasibility were examined. It quickly became clear that a customized solution was feasible. Drawing on their many years of experience, Arnd Jendick (Head of Production) and Michael Torgau (Design Engineer) developed a suitable pair of scissors.
implementation
Within a few weeks, an initial plastic sample was produced to test the fit. After specific adjustments, it was clear that the solution met the ergonomic requirements. The final product was then manufactured from steel.

Just four weeks later, Ms. W. had her first plastic sample in her hands.
"That was the first time I felt truly understood," she recalls. "Others always said, 'Just cut with another finger.' But I didn't want to just cut hair. I wanted to work at the same high level as before the accident. Cutting hair is my passion."

The fitting revealed that these scissors would do the job. After a few minor adjustments, the final scissors could be milled from steel.

Today, Ms. W. can once again work at the level of quality she expects of herself. The custom-made scissors enable precise cutting, ergonomic working, and long-term resilience.
For us, this project was an example of what customized manufacturing can achieve: creating solutions where other systems reach their limits.

After a personal consultation, we check the feasibility, create a sample if necessary, and make fine adjustments together before final production takes place.
The duration depends on the scope of the adjustments. In many cases, an initial sample can be produced within a few weeks.
