The MYTHOS DAMAST the best of two worlds: the timeless beauty of Damascus steel with proven MYTHOS. The characteristic grain is created by layering seven layers of the finest steel plates, each telling its own story.

The Damascus steel used combines powder steel and high-performance steel, combining extreme cutting durability with exceptional toughness. The alloying elements vanadium and molybdenum, as well as the increased chromium content, ensure outstanding corrosion resistance of over 500 hours in the salt spray test.

With its characteristic Offset and 0.5 cm offset thumb loop, the MYTHOS DAMAST allows forDAMAST natural, joint-friendly hand position. The TS screw system is optimally adjusted at the factory and should not be changed. After prolonged use of the scissors, readjustment is possible.

What does the BESS scale value mean?

The BESS value(Brubaker Edge Sharpness Scale) is a standardized measurement for quantitatively determining cutting edge sharpness. The measurement is based on the principle of cutting tests under defined loads: a calibrated test medium is exposed to the cutting edge while the force required in grams (g) to completely cut through the test material is measured. The scale is inversely proportional to sharpness: a lower BESS value indicates greater cutting edge sharpness, as less force is required for the cutting process. By using a standardized, certified test medium under controlled conditions, the BESS method ensures reproducible and comparable measurement results across different blades and manufacturers. For comparison: an ultra-sharp razor blade has a BESS value of approx. 50, while high-quality cutlery has a value of around 300.

What does the BORG-Scala value mean?

The BORG CR-10 scale for tool ergonomics Studies on fabric scissors showed a reduction in perceived effort from traditional designs (higher BORG values) to ergonomic designs through principles such as "bend the tool, not the wrist." Calibration studies with hand dynamometers confirm the correlation between objective force measurements and subjective BORG ratings. It is assessed whether the hand, elbow, or shoulder must be twisted or whether work can be performed in a natural hand position.
